MSc IN GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS - TECHNOLOGIES AND APPLICATIONS (Study Plan)

Objective:

The MSc in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) - Technologies and Applications aims to promote the  formation of professionals for leadershipment and orientation in GIS projects conception and development, by giving them competences for supporting decision making related with the management of spatial and georeferenced data.

The integration of several areas of specialization, like Geographical Engineering, Computing, Geostatistics and Project Planning and Management, will give to the students know-how about GIS project generation and development in its several components. Among several, this course aims to graduate techniciens with skills to:

  • Develop and master techniques and methodologies of geo-referenced spatial data acquisition and representation;
  • Master the tools and the processes used for modelation, storing, management and access geo-referenced data;
  • Apply and develop strategies and methodologies for exploration and extraction of information and knowlege, adequated to the analysis of geospatial phenomenon.
