RESEARCH POSITION - TRANFER (Tsunami Risk ANd Strategies For the
European Region)
In the framework of the Project TRANFER (Tsunami Risk
ANd Strategies For
the European Region), funded by European Union, CGUL
(Center of
Geoph! ysics of University of Lisbon) is offering a research
position
under the following conditions:
1. Duration: 12 months, renewed
by equal period (after evaluation).
2. Starting date: 01 February 2007.
3.
Location: Faculty of Sciences of University of Lisbon, but the
candidate
should be available to visit other national and international
institutes for
periods of time.
4. Objectives: The selected candidate will carry research
work in the
development of methodologies for real-time processing of
high-rate GNSS
data leading to the inclusion of the derived solutions on
TEWS (Tsunami
Early Warning Systems). It is expected this work to result on
a Ph.D.

Requirements: The candidate ! must have a M.Sc. or equivalent in a
subject
such as Geomatics, Geophysics, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or
Computer
Sciences. In addition to excellent research skills, and good
written and
verbal communication skills, the candidate must enjoy
programming (in
Matlab, C++ and/or Fortran) and he(she) should have a
good command of
English. Preference will be given to candidates willing
to enroll on a Ph.D.
course.
7. Remuneration: 745 € (980 € if the candidate will develop a Ph.D.
project). Work insurance will be supported by the project.
