"NVI, Inc. is looking for one or two scientists to provide support
for
the NASA VLBI group located in Greenbelt, Maryland, USA. The
Goddard
VLBI group is one of the premier geodetic VLBI groups in the world.
It
has been instrumental in the development and advancement of geodetic
and
astrometric VLBI for over three decades. It plays a key role in
the
development of the next generation VLBI system, "VLBI2010".
The
ideal candidate will have:
* A PhD in geodesy,
geophysics, or one of the physical sciences;
* Extensive
experience in scientific programming in a Linux
environment
*
A good command of written and spoken English.
In addition, we
expect that the candidate will be:
* Able to work
independently.
* A team player.
*
Creative.
An important focus of the NASA VLBI group is VLBI2010
and related
activities including:
* Overall system
design.
* VLBI data structures.
*
Advanced analysis software.
The candidate will initially be involved
in some or all of these
activities. More broadly, the successful candidate
will work on
advancing the VLBI technique and the use of VLBI data in
scientific
research, present these results at scientific meetings, and
publish them
in scientific journals.
NVI, Inc., provides competitive
